From reading Low Life I wanted to read The Great Gatsby again, for the third time. It's been more than six years since last time and one of the things that were different was the speed of reading, it took me one day this time around. An excellent read which, I think, I might come back to again sometime. Good language, tight structure and a perfect balance between narrative drive and depth in such a short novel. I should also pick up Tender is the night one of these days.

Bought this booklet in anticipation of the movie made of the title story, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. It comes together with "Bernice bobs her hair" and "The diamond as big as the Ritz". Benjamin and Diamond are both interesting fantasies, but I think I liked Bernice best, perhaps because it's the simplest. But all three are very clearly written, witty and 'charming' somehow. Next Fitzgerald I guess Tender Is the night.

NB. I tried Tender is the night, but stopped after twenty pages. I couldn't get into it. Perhaps I should come back to it another day.
